I...honestly don't know what brought this on, but last night as I was turning in I asked myself: is there any LGBT content in Tales canon that isn't bait? There are the hetero endgame couples that are present in the majority of the entries, but that's pretty much a given because if it's het they can't leave it UP TO INTERPRETATION; so that made me think about parts of it that are/might be queer.

The earliest things I can think of are about how Vesperia's OP song is clearly describing Yuri and Flynn's relationship, and the whole Rita/Estelle thing (to the point where it got referenced in-game and in that one TalesFes skit - but I've never actually played Vesperia, and I don't know if it's meant to be a genuine pair or a case of "LMAO it's two girls being friendly but we're not making them That Friendly" or even if it's just a matter of "Rita didn't have any friends growing up but she meets Estelle and latches onto her because she's the first person to actually treat her nicely and normally").

The Xillia duology...I think Milla counts? Because she mentions that gender doesn't really matter to her but she takes on a female-presenting form and goes by she/her pronouns, anyway.

Then you have Sorey and Mikleo in Zestiria, which AFAIK and as far as I'm concerned it's pretty much canon (I know Baba Hideo's gone from the company, but from my understanding he was very in-depth with commenting on the depth of their relationship), and...whatever the fuck's up with Velvet and the Eleanor/Niko parallelism (I distinctly remember Tomizawa saying once in an interview that he 'can't comment on the queerness in Berseria', and that always struck me as odd).

From the mobile titles, from what I remember: I think the English version made it vague (like Berseria's did), but in the JP version for Crestoria IIRC Vicious makes a comment about Aegis being canon gay. There's Mileena in Rays, too, being very vocal about how cute she finds all the girls. And then in Luminaria - which I think the fandom has agreed is arguably the most queer-coded - we have Charles who is, I think, the first non-binary character in the series (Raoul asks them what pronouns they prefer to go by). I can probably list other notable mentions, but I feel those might venture more into viewing them from a shipping light (that's hinted but not confirmed) and not a canonical light (that's hinted and confirmed).

I thought it was an interesting little thought exercise, but maybe somebody who knows the franchise better than I do can correct me on some of this, and on other entries I may have missed or in some of these entries here I'm positive I overlooked.
